Crusaders AC has a rich history in track & field athletics. Since the club's foundation, 15 Olympians have emerged from its ranks, with pride of place obviously going to the 1956 1500m Olympic gold medallist, Ronnie Delany. Today, there is a thriving track & field section in the club ranging from the novice level to our current crop of internationals.

Our athletes race at many events and at many levels from the local Dublin Board graded meets catering for all levels, to the Irish and British milers events, the Irish Championships and right the way through to Olympic Games.

The club would recommend that you have a reasonable level of fitness before trying your hand at track running. If you have not got this level, then you might consider joining in with one of the club's other sections (such as road running, cross-country or mountain running) and achieve that fitness level.

The simplest way to proceed is to just turn up for the main training session of the week, on Tuesday evening in Irishtown Stadium. (See Training for details.) You will not be under any immediately obligation to join and prospective members are welcome to come along for a few weeks to see if the club suits their needs. Alternatively, just e-mail track-and-field@crusadersac.org if you have any further queries.
