Crusaders Grand Prix Meet
On Sat 8th May, at Irishtown Stadium 5.00 - 7.00 pm, Crusaders are introducing the Grand Prix concept for Track and Field meets to Ireland. We have approached coaches and athletes and asked them to put together top class fields for various competitions. In addition we are partnering with the Irish Milers Club so that they can put on their usual high calibre races and deliver a night of athletics to remember. We aim to pack this two hours with Track and Field events that will leave you wanting more.
National Road Relays
There were two firsts for Crusaders at the National Road Relays in Raheny on Sunday 11th April. The club had a team entered in the Senior Women's race for the first time. Valerie Fenton, Tressan McCambridge and Mary Coghlan did the club proud by stepping up to the plate at an event that is fiercely competitive. Hopefully this will establish the event as a fixture on the calendar for our women athletes.
Crusaders in Africa
Last spring, Crusaders' Markus Roessel and Uli Fluhme (ex-Crusader, now based in NYC) decided to travel to Iten in Kenya where many of the top Kenyan runners live and train. We were fascinated by the fact that a small village hosts a majority of the world’s fastest runners. At the same time, we started the website www.mzungo.org to raise the profile of Kenyan and other distance runners.
