P.B., Club Record, Leading Irishman, 3rd in Golden League Debut

Thomas Chamney ran a P.B. of 1:45.41, smashing the club record, extending his lead on the Irish rankings and finishing 3rd, all in his debut in the Golden League last Friday. As you can see the Crusaders singlet also got a run out in Oslo, not an occurrence we have seen too often in the past but one we hope to continue to see in the future. Videos of the race & post-race interview here.

Another 100m record for Colvert

He dipped under the mark that stood for 19 years in his first serious race of the year, but it took him nearly two months to get the official record when he ran 10.79 in Round 1 of the National League. Since then he has improved his mark several times and his P.B. and Club Record now stands at 10.65s after winning the Cork City Sports B 100m last Saturday. Colvert has also been selected for the Irish Junior Team for the European Junior Championships later this month so keep an eye out here for more results from the youngster over the coming weeks.

100m Club Record

Yesterday in Antrim at the National League Team Championships Round 1, Carlos O'Connell's 19 year old Crusaders 100m record was broken by Steven Colvert with a time of 10.77s. The conditions were poor but the lack of wind allowed Colvert to set this legal P.B. and record after dipping under O'Connell's mark of 10.80 twice before but with wind assistance. Colvert will hopefully find another .02s in the next month to make the European Junior Qualifying time.

The deciding factor might be who is tested more by the semi-final on the Saturday. Full race result after the jump.
