Record breaking Cru bring medals home
The opening to the indoor season for Crusaders not only resulted in a large medal haul but four national age group records including an U23 record for Colin Quirke and multiple records for Jim O’Neill.
New Masters World Record for Crusaders Phil Conway
Congratulations tothe great Phil Conway (Crusaders Throws Coach) who stole the show down at the Woodie’s DIY Masters championships at Tullamore Harriers stadium by winning the V6 shot with a throw of 12.60m which is a new World age group record
A weekend of many National Golds and Silvers
Congratulations to all the Crusaders who took part in the Woodie’s DIY Track & Field Championships of Ireland. In what was a weekend full of Gold’s and many Silver’s starting off with an excellent display of hammer throwing with the young talent of Conor McCullough winning the Hammer with a pb throw of 72.67m and then he went on to win Silver in the Discus with a throw of 48.68m
Killian Barry leads the way in the European juniors
Killian Barry maintains his place at the head of the Irish hammer renaissance as he finishes highest Irish thrower in the European junior championships in Tallinn, Estonian.
Covert finishes 6th in Europe
Steven Colvert finishes 6th in the European U23 championships after Moving to 4th on the Irish All time list in the semis.

Fastest 400m time by an Irish athlete this season
Congratulations to Brian Murphy who posted a huge personal best of 46.41 finishing second in the 400m Brussels Grand Prix on Sunday. This time is the fastest by an Irish athlete this season and Brians previous best was 46.89 in 2010.

Graded Meet 6 - Roundup
Six Crusaders athletes were in action at the Graded Meet at Santry this Wednesday: Gareth Dunne, Patrick Saunders, and John Keegan all contested the 400m with Gareth winning the B grade in 52.15 with John third eighty-three hundreds back. Patrick finished third in the C grade in 54.34.
The 1500m saw the welcome return of Sam Mealy, back from his stint in the States, who recorded a timeof 4:07.45 to finish eigth in the A grade. Club captain Gary Park hauled home ninth in the B grade with his run in 4:20.43.
Jason Kehoe had stepped off the mountains for a stint to get his track debut. Perhaps his exploits on the slopes of Lugnacoille the previous Sunday still sat in his legs for it turned into a baptism of fire with Jason 15th in the 3000m where all grades had been amalgamated. Yet this being his first 3k race, the time of 10.19 stands as a new PB for the newly crowned King of the Mountains who’ll look to lower that performance by a good bit once his legs acclimatise to the flat.

In the best Irish junior hammer field ever assembled Killian Barry took the lead on his last throw with a new national junior record.
G.V. Ryan/Louis Vandendreis/ Irish Miler Club Irishtown Meet
A great night was had by all down at the G.V. Ryan/Louis Vandendreis / Irish Miler Club meet in Irishtown Stadium.
There was a great turn out for first Noel Carroll 800 metres race. Noel was one of Ireland’s great Irish middle distance runners who set European and World Records in the1960s and Sports Illustrated once described Carroll as “one of the best middle-distance runners in the world”.
In a fitting hounour of Noel’s great legacy that this race has now established itself as one of the fastest 800 metres races in Ireland and on the night was won by Anthony Lieghio of Tallaght AC in a time of 1.50.14.
Crusaders at Dublin Graded Meet 4
Lots of Crusaders in action at the 4th Graded Meet on home-turf at Irishtown where our 100m men in particular had several podiums finishes in different starts and our shot-putters took possession of the entire podium in their event! Of our long distance runners, Rob Cross finished sixth in the 800m B race and Amidou Dembele had a promising start to his track career when the mountain runner ran 10:11 for this first 3000m.
European U23 standard for Steven Colvert
Congratulations to Steven Colvert who was in action in Dessau Germany and he won the U23 100m in 10.58, and was second in the 200m in a time of 21.02which is inside the standard of 21.25 for the European U23 championships in Ostrava next month.

Killian Barry set a new National Junior record in the hammer of 66.43m. While Brain Murphy goes to the head of the Irish rankings over 400m.
Colvert gets sprint double in AAI games while Quirke extends his national rankings lead.
A double win for Steven Colvert, as Crusaders sprints dominate the AAI Games in very windy conditions. Elsewhere Quirke finished 4th and 5th in the Discus and Shot, respectively in the IC4A Championships.
European U23 qualification for Colin Quirke
Colin Quirke competing for Manhatten College in the MAAC conference championship moved to the head of the Irish rankings in the Shot and Discus, achieving the European U23 qualifing mark in the later.
Fast times for track athletes
With the road and hill runners in action in Munster and Connaught, track athletics provided some fast times in the other two provinces.
Two wins for Colvert at the annual Leevale Open Sports
Two wins for Steven Colvert at the first track and field meet of the season, the annual Leevale Open Sports and his time of 10.70 in the 100 was seven tenths faster than his opener last year.
Antoine Burke in Australian Athletics Championships
Antoine Burke was in action over the weekend in the Australian Athletics Champions, where he currently lives. In the third heat of the 400m Antoine ran 48.74.
Phoenix Park Polo grounds sessions starts this Saturday
Saturday training for Michael’s group on 2nd April in the Phoenix Park is switching to the Polo Grounds.

Chamney wins European Team Championship in Hungary
Thomas Chamney produced a commanding performance on Sunday last to claim victory for Ireland at the European Team Championships 1st League in Budapest, Hungary. Racing over 800m, he was one of just 3 individual winners as Ireland maintained 1st league status having been promoted to this level of competition just last year.
Crusaders/IMC Grand Prix
A sunny, cold and blustery evening was the setting for the first of what will be elite type Grand Prix Track and Field meets in Ireland. Organised jointly by Crusaders and the Irish Milers club this meet attracted Irelands best sprinters, middle distance and pole vaulters.
