Sam finishes 5th in the mud of Roscommon
In Lough Key forest park in Roscommon on 5th February three crusaders athletes traveled down to race the national intermediate cross country. First up was Aoife Quigley in the women’s over 4.8k running as the part of the cork team after her call up based on past performances. She started strong and worked her way up the field to finish well up the field.
Next up was the men’s race over 10k over a very muddy course with a large hill on each lap. Two crusaders athletes set off, Gary Park and current Dublin inter champion Sam Mealy. Sam sat back during the frantic uphill start, then worked his way through the field to finish 5th in a high quality top ten. This adds to his 5 Further back the field Gary started fast and settled in on the second lap a held on for one of his best cross country performance of the year.
