Ju Cru start indoor season with medal haul.

On Satuarday 18th in Tallaght the Junior Cru got their indoor campaign off to a start in the Dublin championships. Instead of warm indoor facilities like the seniors have grown used to, they braved the cold with hail showers and a stiff headwind on the home straight which was tough on the longer events.
Kevin Woods (U17) made a big break through coming 3rd in the 800m in a time of 2.06 with brother James Woods (U15) competed in the under 15 800m. Boys under 11 600m was won by Patrick (Pappy) Tucker with Will Bently having a great run in his first 600m race to finish 6th. Benan Thornton (U/18) completed in the 200m and the 800m.

Alix Hughes (U/17) got through the heats to a very close 200m final and came 5th in the final before coming 2nd in her favoured event the shot. Also in the field events Emma Alden (U18) came 2nd in the LJ and Grainne McG came 1st in her division of the LJ and also competed in the HJ. Grainne Mc Guill (U/16) got through the heats of the 200m to come 6th in the final having also run an 800m in the meantime! A very gutsy run! Two of the girls also ran in the U/11 500m and were well placed 4th and 6th.

Day 3 of the Dublin Juvenile Indoors jumps and shot putt for U9’s - U15’s moved to Santry on Sunday. Nineteen young athletes took part and there were some very good performances with a haul of 7 medals.
