Crusaders in action on British hills
Aoife concentrated on the Snowdon descent
Aoife Joyce ran well in her international outing at the 36th Snowdon Race to record a new personal best for the 10 mile mountain race of 95:47 and finished 17th woman overall and was the second finisher home for the Irish ladies squad. English marathon international Andi Jones took his fifth win in six years in a festival of mountain running which was dominated by the Scottish teams. Cormac O’Ceallaigh finished narrowly ahead in 95:41 and Niamh O’Ceallaigh placing 45th in the women’s race in 1:53:33.

To ease off after a busy summer season, Aoife returned again to the traditional fell race in the English Lake District - The Rydal Round - and took third place in an exciting sprint finish. The race took in seven peaks and nine miles of mainly ridge running.
Lakeland 50 Mile Challenge
Two days later, also in the Lake District, mountain running coach Rene Borg could put some theory into practice scaling seven highland passes to complete the gruelling Lakeland 50 Mile race in 79th position out of the 469 starters. A top-50 finish looked in the cards past midway but some navigational errors proved costly late. Still a relieved Crusader joined the ranks of the ultra-runners as he arrived in Coniston after thirteen hours and sixteen minutes.
