The AAI games took place in Santry on Sunday, 15th June in very windy conditions.  Steven Colvert completed a sprint double, winning the 100m and 200m, the later into a 4.80m/s headwind.  Despite the strong wind he recorded a very fast time of 21.74, given the wind it is even more impressive that it still would have been ranked 5th fastest in Ireland this year.  It was nearly a clear sweep of the sprint races for John Coghlan coached athletes, Eoin Mulhall placed second in the 400m in 48.15 behind an inform Tim Crowe of Dooneen.  This was Eoin’s first race for Crusaders and running 48.15 in the windy conditions that day shows there is more to come when he races again in a Crusaders singlet.  Another member of the Cru in action over 400m, was Patrick Saunders running 53.95 after a few years of injury problems.  Ray Hynes showed that his recent warm weather trip had gone well by posting a 3000m pb of 8.39.  While Sam Gaine continued his build up to Leinster Schools with a 38.61m throw in the discus.
