Aoife takes off during the Wicklow Way Relay 2011

Aoife Joyce had a good opportunity to polish off her form ahead of her international involvement at Snowdon at the Leinster League race at Trooperstown this Wednesday. She held off an early challenge from Clare Sullivan and Sonja Fuhrmann before building a commanding lead on open mountain winning in 48:25 with Sullivan second (51:33) and Fuhrmann third (52:04). Susan Seager’s finished 8th and Eva Fairmaner 12th allowing the ladies’ team to pick up their eighth win in nine outings.

Oran Murphy came home as the first male Crusader on the evening in 22nd with Kevin O’Riordan 31st. These being our only men on the evening meant the Crusaders men’s team failed to muster three scorers; this was the first time this season where there has been great activity in the hills from our club members.
