Aoife Joyce won her first Leinster League race since returning from injury as the IMRA Leinster League continued on the old Glasnamullan course, not seen since 2002, which takes runners up Djouce mountain from a direction unknown to many which will undoubtedly be incorporated in many training runs after this. Aoife led from the early stages of the race and by the end of the race she was almost four minutes clear of the next lady.

This also resulted in another win for the ladies’ team where Susan Seager and Roisin McDonnell where the other two scorers. Roisin McDonnell took the F50 prize and Diarmuid O’Colmain continued his winning ways in the M60 category. The race received great feedback overall with a fast flat start and a spectacular descent weighing against the usual havoc created by the local midges this time of year.

The league continues next week with the classical Scarr race, a straightforward open mountain climb with a fast and grassy descent, so this race comes strongly recommended to any Crusaders with an appetite for the mountains.
