Amidou in top-10 at inaugural Bay 10k

Amidou Dembele

In a time where there is precious few 10k courses to select from on the calendar, the “Park West 10k” at the Grand Canal and “The Bay 10k” in Dun Laoghaire are welcome additions to the fixture list. For the Bay 10k, the reviews we got implied that the course was neither slow nor fast, but somewhere in between, and this suited Crusader Amidou Dembele who knocked over three minutes off his 10k PB to finish ninth in 36:31. For good measure, the mountain runner finished his summer season with another top-3 finish two days later at the Glen of the Downs trail race.

With 898 finishers there should be a reasonable chance of seeing this race return in 2012 for any Crusaders in search of summer 10k.

The Park West 10k, on earlier, seemed the faster option, at the front former Crusader Barry Minnock, now Rathfarnham, continued his recent string of victories against Sergiu Ciobanu, Clonliffe, in 31:00 versus 31:02. No Crusaders competed as far as we could see, but mail us if we missed you in the results. 233 finished the Park West run.
