Pre race preparation and Race recovery ... of a different kind!!
With the Dublin Novice race just finished and some great performances by Crusaders teams some tips on Pre race preparation and Race recovery are always good to take on board for the next test.
Breandan Carrigan Crusaders second man home recommends asparagus and muscles. These are excellent sources of nourishment for the brain. They help stimulate memory cells and information storage cells. When a team warms up together ...as a team should.....
they normally jog, stretch, stride and tog out together. This, in this day and age, normally means leaving the gear in one member of the teams' car. After the race everyone can head back "as a team" to the car and tog out together again and cool down together discussing the race, the tactice, fitness levels and the course, thus learning from the experience.
In Brenadans case, at the Dublin Novice on Saturday, he forgot to take his pre race asparagus and muscles and managed to loose his car key. The team waited for an hour and a half before Bren remembered he had given his key to 'trigger happy' photographer, Karl Fahy, who was now up in Santry... Good man!
Anyway Karl came back , the car was opened and everyone was able to cool down and get back to a normal Saturday... UNTIL ... Karl broke down. This meant a further wait unti lKarl coudl get the aul Subaru Impretza going again.
TIP: Make sure you keep the brain well hydrated, topped up. Don't go near Brendan's car before a race and don't give your car key to Karl to mind.

and after you finally get your car keys, don't use your phone while driving out of the park
...especially when the Gardai are right behind you!
