National Indoors

The club had a sucessful weekend in the Odyssey Arena, Belfast.

Ian McDonald won gold in the 60m hurdles running 8.08 and took 0.13 off his PB.

Steven Fleming won silver on count back in the long jump. His jump of 7.16 in the first round was enough to win a well deserved medal although he fouled out his next five jumps.

Ruairi O Briain was 4th in the pole vault with a jump of 4.55.

Eoin Cummins and Gareth Coughlan ran excellent races in the 1500m heats, with both men runnning close to sub 4 for the first time this season. Eoin ran 4.00 in a heat in which he had to battle for every place just to get through. The run got him through to final which was one race to many finishing 8th. This was Eoin's first race in over a year and proves he could still have another great season. Gareth ran a gritty race, but got dubiously overtaken on the final bend, which unluckily for him meant he lost his place in the final. He finished with at time of 4.03. Simon Kenny also ran in the 1500m but failed to produce the race that his training has indicated.

In other news Tom Cham(Daug)ney ran 1.51 to win the Big East American Indoor Championships. Tom is looking forward to the European Indoors in Birmingham in two weeks. He hopes to run more PB's and possibly a medal.
