Mazda league Round 2 : Competition Warms Up
Crusaders Men travelled understrength yesterday to Tullamore to compete in the 2nd round of the Mazda Track & Field League. Cold & Flu Viruses dessimated the distance & management sections with Eugene O'Neill, John O'Connor, Arran Hussey, Eoin Cummins, and Gar Coghlan all absent. Others were unavailable due to injury (Antoine Burke, Kevin Burke, John Coghlan, Aidan O'Callaghan, Steven Flemming and Barry McCarron) and Crusaders top hurdler Peter Coghlan left for the World Championships.
However the team that did travel performed admirably. Although not all events were covered a good deal of valuable points were scored.

Francois Kulik did especially well competing in his first Mazda League event almost scoring maximum points in 2 events (and also guesting in the 56lb Weight!), and another mention is due to Alan O'Keefe who came second in the 5000m with only 24hrs notice.
With these results the team should qualify in the top half of the first eight teams. At full strength Crusaders can expect to be in the mix for the top spot at the final on August 21st.
